    2 HANDMADE ANTIQUE BONE & BOAR BRISTLE TOOTHBRUSHES
    Early 19th Century
    Very stiff boar bristles.
    Made in China
    I recommend that you do not use these. Ouch! Just the thought of that! LOL
    Boar bristle tooth brushes were used in China from the 16th century.
    The Chinese imports into the American and British markets started about 1885 and stayed as active imports until about 1938 when nylon brushes were patented. The early tooth brush bristles were mounted in either bamboo or bone as these are.
    Based on where we got these in the estate from an importer in the late 19th, early 20th century's these would date from anywhere from 1890 to 1900.
