MOTIVO / MOTIF :
MEDALLA HECHA, TANTO POR LA INICIATIVA PROPIA QUE IMPULSA LA AMISTAD, COMO POR LA  MOTIVACION DE VARIOS COMPAÑEROS MIEMBROS DE LA S.N.P.R. , ANTE LA RESPONSABILIDAD DE HONRAR, DE MANERA INMEDIATA PERO SOLEMNE LA MEMORIA DEL COMPAÑERO & AMIGO, CUYA PARTIDA NOS HA PREPARADO EL CAMINO PARA  NOSOTROS AHORA CONTINUAR SU OBRA NUMISMATICA.
This medal has been made of both the personal initiative which derives from friendship, as well as for the motivation of several members of the Puerto Rico Numismatic Society, into paying proper honors to this old friend in his sudden departure. He has left us with a complex numismatic legacy for us to continue expanding.

Obverse shows the familiar figure of Mr. Archilla, surrounded by a wreath of flowers, with a Puerto Rican flag as background, from whose star comes floating Achilla's complete name, and below which it says "In Memoriam" with the dates spanning his life below which I put my mintmark and the words "Layered in Gold" in very diminute size, only seen with a coin magnifier. Reverse shows an stylized image of the Puerto Rico's Numismatic Society logo, next to which I put the dedication: "To Efrain Archilla: wiseman of the Puerto Rican Numismatics & Exonumia, Pillar of the Puerto Rico Numismatic Society, Teacher, Counselor, & Friend; Your Legacy will be Thanked by Generations to come" Below this are words celebrating the (ironic) fact that the Puerto Rican Numismatic Society celebrates its 60 year Anniversary.

Wonderful crown sized coin, 40mm , of over an ounce of weight ( 30 grams), covered of luxurious 22kt gold, Low relief details of gem proof finish quality. Design and produced for THE PUERTO RICO MINT ( Mint mark: " PRM "), company fully created, owned & operated by Puertorricans.
Issue of 100 pieces, 80 of which have already been distributed around Puerto Rico, with only 18 to be offered thru Ebay for colectors outside the island.
